Molecular biology studies the structure and functions of nucleic acids, the principles and mechanisms for the implementation of hereditary information, as well as the molecular basis of the structure and functions of cells, the processes of growth, development, division, tumor transformation and cell death. Medical genetics studies the causes of the occurrence and development of hereditary diseases, their diagnosis, prevention and treatment. With an integrated approach to teaching at medical universities, the study of molecular biology creates the basis for studying the molecular foundations of the structure and functioning of the cell, regulating gene expression necessary to understand both normal processes of life and their disorders, leading to the occurrence of many diseases, including hereditary, associated with mutations in genes and chromosomes, which makes up the content of medical genetics.
